WELCOME-Just got done Flipping the Hull over so I can get the Chines, Bottom Etc. together.

Click the Pics to Make them Big

September 21,2004

In this photo the Chines have been sanded to the right angle.
I will be using the Bottom that I cut out for the Michalak "MusicBox" that I started building. There is only a few inches difference in the width and less than a foot difference in the length.I'll trim it after I get it on the Boat.

I Laminated the chines out of 3/8" strips of pine as I could not get
the full size Chine wood to bend but I have heard that "Laminated Wood" Is stronger than a whole piece of Wood. Laminating is more time consuming though.

I am not using the "best" Plywood but I am not worried about it as I plan on "Strip Planking" on the Inside of the
Hull then Cloth & Epoxy on the outside of the Hull. Not trying to re design the boat-Just doing the best I can with what I have to work with.As long as I own this Boat it will probably never see the Ocean,I am building it for Camping on Lakes, Rivers and Streams And having a great time doing it.

Finally got the Bottom on. I checked everything three times or
more before I glued it together. Now it looks like a boat!

I wish I could get some better angles to take Photos But,
as you can see-My Shed is just about big enough to Build A Boat in.

It's starting to look like a real Boat

September 27, 2004

I started Strip Planking the Top part of the sides.
There are a few small gaps here and there but I will fill them in.

"Strip Planking" Is a lot of extra work but
I sure like the way it looks, I have always thought that
Strip Planked Boats were Beautiful.

It looks a lot better after trimming the excess wood off.

At this point I have less than $50.00 out of pocket expenses
in this Boat.I have made a few mistakes but....I am in the process of
Fixing them.

Yes!....I am Building this boat "My way". The Original Plans are
Great, Nothing wrong with them. But..It is My Boat and there are certain
things that I want to do so that it suits My needs. I like to have some leeway
in what I do.

ELVER CANOE YAWL

This is another Boat that I would Love to Build!

This Photo is from Steve Redmond's Elver Canoe Yawl Page

Isn't this the Cutest Boat? Click on the Blue link above the Photo to go to their Web Site and Check it out. This is a Plans Built Boat too.

I found this Boat at the American River in Folsom, California in August, 2004. The Guy that owned it said it was Built in England. I don't remember its Name.
